I write this blog with 36 days left here in the lovely Victorville Federal Prison. A wild ride I must say. Actually I’m feeling a little sad about it all. Of course I want to go home and get my new and improved life back but I feel awful to leave my friends here. I’ve met some incrediable women and the thought of leaving them behind saddens me. It’s all good, I realize it’s all part of our individual journies.
 Last week I dressed in cap and gown and received my diploma…I cried…it was awesome! Now that I have extra time on my hands I’ve volunteered washing dishes in exchange for getting in the front of the chow line. Other inmates think I’m nuts but I’m sure you guys understand. It’s all about the food!
 Some of my highlights here include dusk and dawn….we have an amazing skyline. You can usually find me under the tree with my feet propped up, with my head phones on, crocheting, watching the sunset. I wish I had a camera. We also have quite the wildlife here in the desert. The track had been closed recently because of 2 rattlers….since that time I’ve been on the hunt. We have 1 lone kitty that cruises around…totally spoiled by all the ladies. We all miss having pets.
 I’ve yet to get in trouble here. I take pride in being a good inmate…I can admitt that they’ve tamed this wild pony. I can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned here to my life on the outside. I’ve got high hopes for a calm, drama free, productive, life.

Hello my darlings!
I’m so sorry it’s taken so long for me to check in…it’s been a little hectic here for the past couple weeks. I’ve been busting ass trying to get my math skills up so I can pass the GED prior to getting released. I did well on the final test except math was a little shakey. I’ll know the results in a month. Wish me luck!
 I’ve also been assigned my prison job….TOILETS!! Yes, it’s true…I’m the girl pushing the cart, empting the tampon/maxi pad bins, scrubbin’ 20 toilets every morning. I know what you’re thinking…”WOW, she scored!” I know, I know, I’m just lucky I guess! Actually, I really don’t mind. I like having the piece of mind knowing that every time I sit my prcious ass on the can it’s sparklin’ clean!
 Sleeping arrangements are a little different. My bed is about 2 ft. wide and it consist of a pad on a cookie sheet. But, it’s my little area and I’ve made it quite charming. I’ve been beading like a maniac so I now have all these colorful necklaces hanging all around me. Also, the cards and pics I’ve been sent add so much wonderful energy to my space. Recently “Janine type porn” has found it’s way to me. I was sooo turned on by these images I just had to show them all to my room mates. We all began to squeal with delight. The first image was that of a BIG, FAT In & Out double double burger with a side of fries….just talkin’ about it makes me horny! Secondly, bacon and sunnyside up eggs and a real cup of joe. I can’t control myself…I just see pics like that and I start thinking of all the dirty, nasty, vile things I could do with runny yolk and a big, thick, hunk of meat! HAHAHAHAHA! I crack myself up. I’m such a dink!

I was planning to write a guest blog today just to let you guys know we are dealing with some red tape and obstacles courtesy the FBOP (Federal Bureau of Prisons). Janine’s mom told me that Janine mailed 3 blog updates by snail mail to me 2 weeks ago, but I have not received anything yet. I have been told that the FBOP reads and censors all incoming and outgoing mail. I don’t know if her mail is sitting in a stack waiting to be read by the censor or if they have read it and denied it being sent. I can tell you that the email I quoted above was shown as being sent at 8:22 AM, but did not arrive until 10 PM. So I guess they held it up for the censor to read. Remember our girl is in federal prison for a MISDEMEANOR. She is in a prison where all the other inmates are convicted felons. Something very wrong here. Something like maybe a huge miscarriage of justice. We’ll post her newest blog as soon as we get it……Earl

This is Earl Miller updating all you friends and members of freejanine.com. On Thursday. March 26, Janine had asked me through her mom to deposit some bucks in her prison account. This gives her spending money to make phone calls, buy toothpaste, etc. Up until now she has given us her blog entries by telephone to her mom, who then types them up and forwards them to me for posting to you guys. Because her account went empty, she was not able to call to blog. I went to a Western Union link which is dedicated to transferring $$$ to prisoners accounts. After a good half hour of going through all the steps required by the WU website, a message came up that the transaction was not completed, instructing me to call my bank. They wanted to verify that it was really me who made the transfer. The catch is that I was told to go through the whole process again. They weren’t able to simply finish the process for me. On Saturday, I found the easy way to do it. I went to a Ralph’s market where there is a WU courtesy phone. I told them how much I wanted to transfer and then gave the cash to the store manager along with a transaction number the WU customer service rep gave to me. The money was in her account in a matter of a couple of hours or less. For any of you who have someone in federal prison, the key to making a WU transfer of funds is to know the CODE address of the prison your person is in (not the actual address). You can get this info right on the WU website. You can find out all you need to know by going to this website:http://www.bop.gov/inmate_programs/money.jsp and then to the WU website. The good news is that we should be hearing from Janine herself shortly, and you wont have to read my ramblings. – Earl

Hope everyone is doing well.  I’m actually doing amazingly well.  Many things have transpired this week.  Some things have been difficult to adjust to – like our “pill guy” whom we call “Lurch.”  Last Saturday night he decides to stop my antidepressant cold turkey.  I started taking these a couple of months prior to surrendering.  They served me well, but I’m now ready to wean myself off of them.  I’ve already stopped all sleep meds and all caffeine.  I’ve been sleeping great all through the night with the exception of the night guard shining his flashlight in my eyes three times a night.  But anyway, “Lurch” is nutty and pissed me off no end when he decided no more antidepressants.  I calmly asked him to refer to the doctor’s note in my file.  I explained that it’s not safe to stop antidepressants “cold.”  I was told to shut my mouth and keep walking.  I so badly wanted to grab his pencil neck and knock some sense into his pea brain.  But instead I decided to listen to the other ladies and go outside and walk it off.  I did, but only after I gave him and his horse the finger!
